“Yes.”

“You cleaned it well, I hope.”

“Kegan did.” Ash chuckled. “And dosed it with OTC antibiotic cream.”

“How long ago?”

“Around…seven?” He glanced at Kegan, who nodded.

“We’ll check it in the morning,” Bernie said over his shoulder as he left the room.

“I like him,” Ash said almost under his breath.

“Yeah. He’s good people,” Kegan replied. “I wasn’t sure how he’d react to everything. He handled it like a pro.”

“Because I am one,” Bernie said, coming back into the room. He gave Ash two pills and a glass of water. “Drink it all. Don’t want you getting dehydrated. Then you’re going to bed. I’ve got two guest bedrooms, so one of you will have to share.”

Kegan tried not to laugh at the expression on Ash’s face. He looked like he’d swallowed the water the wrong way. Hell, maybe he did.

Bernie caught it, too, because he turned to Kegan with a knowing smile. “I’m aware that you’re gay. You never made any pretense about it. You and him…?”
