They made it to the park, concealing their weapons whenever they passed the occasional pedestrian.

They crossed one of three bridges leading to an island in the middle of the duck pond. “This should be safe enough for now,” Gage said. “We can see anyone approaching.”

They found a bench under one of the trees. Kegan and Gage sat while Ash knelt in front of them.

“We need transportation,” Ash said. “And a new place.”

“He’ll have people checking all the hotels and motels,” Gage pointed out.

“Yeah.” Ash sighed. “This is getting old.”

“No shit. We can pay cash for a vehicle, but we can’t risk using any of the IDs we have to get it licensed. Not anymore. Not with Patterson on the alert that we’re here. We steal one and stay in the city, the police are bound to find us. This is getting fucking harder by the day.”

“We only need a car for a few hours,” Kegan said. “To get out to his house.”
