“Did you hear anything about the will yet?” she asked, helping Kiko restock egg-shaped truffles.
“Sarah’s will?” asked Kiko, frowning. “No. You noticed how reluctant Gordon was to tell us anything last night.”
“Well, it got out anyway,” said Katie, then, “How was last night?”
Her pause was loaded. Kiko refused to look over at her.
“We didn’t get engaged, if that’s what you’re asking. We had a nice night in. What’s in the will that we’d be interested in?”
“Well, nothing’s in the will that you’d be interested in, really,” said Katie, shutting the case door on the chocolates and stripping off her gloves. “Everything goes to her daughter Lily. It’s the will she was in the middle of making that’s interesting.”
“How so?” asked Kiko, interested now. He hadn’t known Sarah was in the middle of changing her will, but it seemed to fit considering she was giving many of her things away.
