Chapter 46

Dom let Kiko get a third of the way into his beer before bringing the food thing up again. He’d suspected for a while Kiko skipped the occasional meal, but he hadn’t realized he’d been going whole days without eating. Kiko cooked up vegetables in a pan, water boiling for couscous, and Dom considered opening up his laptop to try to look up more information on Sarah.

He doubted there would be time for that once he and Kiko started talking. He hated arguing, but he didn’t feel in the wrong here. And he was worried for Kiko. Dom cared about him like he’d cared about no one else, and to learn for certain that Kiko wasn’t eating actually hurt. Dom couldn’t explain it, but it made him itchier to say something.

“So when were you going to let me know?” he asked. Kiko took another drink and plated the couscous.

“I’m eating now,” he said. His words were sharp, not calm. Dom figured he was embarrassed more than pissed.
