“And you tell us to watch our mouths where there might be children,” said Dom.

“Yeah,” said Chad. Kiko ignored them both. He tried to ignore Clark, too, focusing very intently on wrapping the ceramic eggs in the newspaper they’d come in. But the reporter walked through the thin crowd right up to Kiko’s table and stood there beaming.

“Looks like something interesting’s happening here,” he said.

“Not really,” said Kiko, adding a wrapped egg to a nearby box. Dom swept up the last of the egg shards on the floor.

“I cut myself on an egg,” said Chad. Kiko tried to shoot him a look that conveyed he shouldn’t volunteer anything, but Clark was already interested.

“Did you now? Is that why you’re re-boxing them? Or is something else up? These wereSarah Mulligan’s eggs, weren’t they?”

“Sadly the eggs will no longer be offered for silent auction,” said Kiko, still not looking at Clark.

“Care to comment on why?”
