Chapter 70

“Thanks,” said Kiko when Dom entered, and passed him a coffee that Dom was happy to drink. His brain could use the boost.

“You like the way things are?” he asked. Kiko printed out new orders and answered without turning back to him.

“You’re going to have to be more specific, Dom,” he said, and Dom shrugged.

“You’re right, I really do need the coffee.”

He spent a good portion of the morning trying to figure out just how to ask Kiko if he wanted to get married without actually asking it of him. How could he say that he wanted the proposal he’d started as a joke to be real now? Dom avoided Kiko as much as he could, which was difficult considering Chad was late. Very late.

He finally came through the doors at nearly eleven, looking worried and twitchy as ever. Dom was packing up some egg-shaped chocolates to ship—one of the orders Chad was supposed to be working on—and Kiko was reading a book when the teen made his way to the counter.
