“But June…” I sputtered.

“Don’t even try it. You’re exhausted, you’re not eating, and you look like hell. Go home, watch Rachael Ray, cook yourself some fabulous meals, and don’t come back until next Wednesday, understand?” With that pronouncement, she turned and walked away.

Great, just great. I could feel eyes on me. I knew Justin was almost willing me to say something to him, but I just couldn’t. Yet another humiliation. I took off my headphones, packed up my stuff, and headed for the door.

“Tyson, wait!”

I heard Justin calling me, but I pretended not to hear him. I left the office and was almost to the elevator when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

“Tyson.”

I shrugged his hand away from my body and turned to face him. “What?” I snapped.

“You left your cellphone on the desk.” He handed it to me and then stood there, waiting for me to say something.
