Chapter 16

“I’m okay, man. You?” Hunter sensed the change as they looked at each other. He saw the same feelings reflected in Van’s eyes. He felt like a king, knowing this wonderful man wanted him just as much, but the complications all but took the breath out of his body.

“Good, let’s check out what’s going on here. I need to make some calls. Maybe I should get a hotel room and do all that there and get out of your hair.” As Hunter said the words, he knew he didn’t mean them. But how could he expect Van to drop his life and end up deep in his mess?

“No!” Van all but shouted. Van’s cheeks pink from embarrassment, and he looked away. “You can stay here for as long as you like. I insist. Stay here with me. I want you to.”

“I just need to grab my bike. My clothes are in the saddlebags. And maybe pick up a few things at the store, if you don’t mind taking me.”

“Not at all. Let’s get that out of the way so you can have enough time before Rowdy calls again.”
