This is out of the way, and no one can find us here. It’s not on the grid. My family’s place is off the grid, too, but if you dig hard enough, you can find anything you want, except for this place. I’m going to call my dad and brother and let them know to take extra precautions and get local law enforcement on alert.”


“It sounds like you’ve dealt with this before,” Van stated.


“Yeah, one or two times. I never want trouble brought to my family’s door, but they can take care of themselves. They will take it in stride.”


Hunter smiled, and Van could tell he was very fond of his family. Van thought of his own.
