Chapter 37

I couldn’t be upset that Gloria and her stud of a detective were falling in love, escaping the wintry tundra of Pittsburgh and enjoying each other’s company. Who was I to badmouth romance when, per Gloria’s Facebook, they seemed to be having the time of their lives, perhaps acting like young people in lust, love, or something energetic and romantic, keeping them together.

After learning that Gloria and her beau were not going to return my morning calls anytime soon, I began to panic. One cup of coffee turned into four. Of course, the caffeine from the tetrad drinks sent my nervous system into a buzzing state of confusion. I always found coffee to soothe my soul, a calming device during troubled times. Unfortunately, that always didn’t work for me, like now, and I started to pace the kitchen, to and fro, to and fro, to and fro.
