Chapter 50

The newest member of the family, one Io deemed in need of a name, stood just shy of the second story balcony. With some luck he found leftover restoration supplies in a corner of the garage, picking out fist sized stones to be eyes and bending a piece of rope to be the mouth. Using a carrot as a nose sounded ridiculous, even to Cinder, who decided they use the smallest log they could find in the pile of firewood; winding up with a broken branch instead. Plastic candy canes Io used for decoration on the front door became the snowman’s arms.

Job done, Cinder gave him another kiss, whispering a delicious promise of fun to be had later on, and then retreated to the confines of his office. Left alone to his own devices Io gathered a box of sweets and headed out into the night.
