Chapter 14

Nikki pulled out a purple Sharpie. “Are you sure?” she asked, her voice too loud this close. “This one’s a little…”

Vic looked at her, slightly amused now. Though he’d picked one at random, the nametag he’d chosen was decorated with pastel flowers and heart-shaped clouds. Go on, say it,he silently dared her. Tell me it’s girly. Tell me it’s gay.

He kept the thought to himself, though, and instead of saying anything else, the woman shrugged and uncapped the Sharpie. “Alright, Vic, so. Here you go.” She peeled the backing off the nametag and slapped it onto his chest. “Now. Have a seat and we’ll begin.”

Vic turned back to the chair near the door only to find his boss lounging in it now. Which left only one seat in the room…

“Hey, Vic!” Kyle called from the back row. “I saved you a spot.”

Vic groaned. His stomach sloshed miserably as he trudged towards the chair. Fucking Kyle, of course. Today was shaping up to be worse than yesterday.
