“We’re adults.”
“Not now, we aren’t. Come on. Or are you chicken?”
“As if.” Kirk sat, and they both began swinging. Kirk took it slowly at first, then, obviously caught up in the moment, he began going higher and higher, leaning back, a brilliant smile on his face.
Tony watched him, smiling to himself. He should do this more often. Just let go and have fun. I bet it doesn’t happen much. We have to change that.
Finally they came to a stop and got off. “Now the slides?” Tony asked.
“Umm, no. I’d feel like a fool, since they’re made for grade-schoolers. I mean, size-wise.”
Tony checked and agreed. “There’s another park, not all that far from here, that has big-people slides.”
Kirk lifted an eyebrow. “You know this, how?”
Laughing, Tony admitted he’d been there and tried them out. “So the next time we go walking, I’ll take you there. Right now, though…” He gestured toward a dark bank of clouds rolling in, covering the lowering sun.
