Kirk returned the kiss with a great deal of enthusiasm—setting Tony’s pulse throbbing—only to pull away moments later with a murmured, “I shouldn’t have…”

“Kissed me like that? Why not, if you meant it? I’m an adult. I know that a kiss, no matter how wonderful, doesn’t mean I…we are going to immediately jump into the sack.”

“Now who’s being less than romantic?” Kirk replied with a grin of sorts.

“Me?” Tony hugged him again. “Just trying to slow things down. Not that I want to.”

“Yeah, you do.” Kirk tapped Tony’s nose. “And, honestly, I want us to until I know you’re certain here—” he put his hand over Tony’s heart, “—that I’ve changed. Before you deny it, I know you probably have lingering doubts, which is understandable.” He brushed a kiss over Tony’s lips. “I’m going to prove that I have, because when I said I want to be with you and only you, I meant it.”

“Then we’re of one mind, because I only want you.”
