“Look, it’s simple,” said my boss. “Lucas still has his dorm room. You can sleep in your old room. You can study there and work for your father there, and then work for me for extra money. In your spare time, you can help Lucas find his family.” Doug looked over at me. He looked down at the phone. “See, simple.”


“Okay,” said Todd. “I’ll think about it.”


I nodded. “So, to recap, you, Doug, won’t have to help me. Plus, you’ll have an extra hand around the shop, so you can work less.”


His nodding was in sync with my own. “Check and double check. Simple.”


I grinned. “You’re devious, you know.”


He stood. He smacked his hands on the table. “Duh, dude. Duh.”
