Chapter 62

“But why have a hospital lab out here?” Doug asked. “And why spend around seven million on it?”

“And why leave it all here like this?” I added.

To which Simon replied, “Maybe they planned on coming back.”

My heart began to pound again. It was then I remembered that we didn’t have masks on, disguises, like we had the last two times we entered the place. I looked up. I looked down. I looked all around. I didn’t see any cameras. Still, that didn’t mean they didn’t have any aimed our way. I mean, they spent a ton of money on a remote lab; the least they could do was hide a security camera. Plus, Craig had us wear disguises, and Craig was The Brain. Meaning, Craig generally knew what he was doing.

I dropped it, though. No use worrying them. Plus, the place had clearly been empty for years and years. Who would even still be monitoring such a security camera?

“The crib,” I said, instead. “Maybe I was the patient.”
