Simon raised his hand. “I already threatened the senator with blackmail. I say we go that route. This Brain fellow, he works for the senator, is bankrolled by the senator. We threaten that job security, maybe we can get the drive in exchange for our silence.”


Doug nodded. “That lab was never meant to be found. If the senator paid for the lab with money that was supposed to go elsewhere, then that’s good blackmail material. Plus, we’d be blackmailing a kid, not an actual senator. Seems safer to me.”


Yeah, I thought, except that The Brain was anything but safe to fuck with. Still, it was a plan, and if Craig had the flash drive, it was Craig we had to blackmail. Plus, it wasn’t like we could break into a senator’s office and hope to get away with it. “All those in favor?” I asked. Everyone’s hands went up. “All those opposed?”


Doug’s eyes rolled one final time. “Blackmail the kid, Lucas. Get the drive back, Lucas. Let’s go home now, Lucas.”
