His nod turned shake. “I only knew what was on the drive. I knew how you came to be; I didn’t know their plans beyond that. I assumed the experiment ended. It was a success. You were born healthy, super. They knew that. They could build an entire race like you.”

Todd tapped him on the shoulder. “And you were okay with that?”

He looked up at my boyfriend. “A race of superheroes? A race of men that would give us a military advantage over our enemies? Of course, I was okay with that.”

And there it was. There was what separated me from Craig, yet again. He would use that gun; I would not.
