“Ivels isn’t that large,” he said. “A few thousand people. Don’t let it deceive you—they have a festival in summer that pulls in people from all over.”

“Right,” said Akton. “One whole festival. That you’ve never been to. Where’s the Guard house?”

“It’ll be off the square. They all are. Ylenia ordered that a few hundred years ago so that you could visit any town and find the Guard easily. I’m sure Ivels will look better at town center, too.”

Akton rolled his eyes. Talfryn tore his gaze away from him after a few minutes, wondering whether there was anything he could do to repair the situation this time. He’d enjoyed the sex the night before and had been hoping they could share an actual bed tonight, but then Akton had gone cold and suspicious. It was difficult to believe he could think Talfryn was trying to lure him with the sun water.
