Chapter 13

“Pizza or Chinese?” Walter asked.

“Definitely Chinese. It’ll be a nice change from what Pat cooked. Not that it wasn’t good, but…”

“Yeah, I get you.”

The restaurant wasn’t full, so they were able to get a table along one wall, far enough back that they wouldn’t be seen from the street. Lou had the feeling Walter chose it because he knew it would make him feel more comfortable. After they ordered, Lou took a deep breath. “Step one, done.”

“Yep, and you know what they say, the first one’s the hardest. Tomorrow, job hunting.”

“Oh hell.”

Walter chuckled. “You knew that was coming.”

“Yeah, I did. And I can handle it. I think.” Lou replied, glancing worriedly around the restaurant before returning his gaze to Walter.
