That was not what it seemed. He poured the coffee. I’m making mountains out of mole-hills, or something. Carrying the cups into the living room, he put them down and retook his seat.

Lou picked his up, saying “Thanks” before taking a sip. “I ended up sending out five resumes. Now I guess it’s wait and see, and hope.” He looked at Walter over the rim of his cup.

“That’s always the way. I bet all five will reply.”

“I’d be happy if one did, as long as it was positive.” Setting down his cup, Lou closed out of the site and shut down the laptop. “I suppose I should go now.”

“You don’t have to. It’s not like it’s that late.”

“True.” Lou took another drink of coffee, glancing at Walter’s untouched cup. “Decided you didn’t really want any?”

“Hum? Oh.” Walter took a sip.

“You seem distracted. Thinking about how soon you can get out of here and go home? If you are, well, I suppose I should learn to handle things on my own now. In fact, I know I should.”
