“You did that for us?” Lou said softly, not quite believing what he was hearing.
“I want you to be safe and we can’t live together if I’m me, I mean…”
“What he means is he loves you and so we’re coming out wherever you are.”
“Robin?”
“Umm, yeah.”
Lou took a deep breath. “You’re okay with this?”
“Mostly. I won’t be able to talk to my best friend any more, or any of my friends, but Dad says you’re a good guy now, so I guess that’s okay. You are, aren’t you?”
“A good guy? Yeah, I’m trying to be.”
“Good.”
The phone went silent for a second, then Walter said, “I guess it’s a go, since she said it was?”
“You know it is. Damn, yeah it is.”
“Thank God. And by the way she’s right, I do love you.”
Lou laughed happily. “I sort of figured, since you wouldn’t lie to your own kid.”
“Or to you.”
“I know. I love you too. I was just afraid if I said it, well…”
