“We’re now free spirits with nothing to tie us here,” he said when he sat down. “The money from the sale has already been deposited in our Belize account.”
Rae nodded. “Once we decide where we’re headed and who we are, I’ll set up a new account at a local bank for us.”
“Which brings us to the next question, where dowe want to go?”
“We’ve been south, and now Midwest, so how about north,” Lou replied. He chuckled. “Alaska. Even Regotti wouldn’t want to go up there to find us.”
“Umm, no. I’m not a snow person if I can help it,” Rae said. “Washington or Oregon, maybe. That’s as far north as I’m willing to venture.”
Wayne tapped a finger on the table. “Portland’s nice. I did a relocation up there while I was still with the Marshals Service. Always did want to go back sometime.”
Lou cocked an eyebrow. “You never mentioned that.”
“It’s not like we’ve ever had the time, or the inclination, to take a vacation since we came out here,” Wayne pointed out.
