“Whoa. Whoa.” Xavier laughed. “Watch it with that.”
“Hello?” August called out again. “Boys…I hear you in there. Come on, don’t leave me hanging. Uncle August has a going-away invitation for you two.” He knocked again. “Open up and you won’t regret it. It’s time for a little southern hospitality.”
Billy hurriedly slipped his jeans on, but didn’t bother with finding a clean shirt. “What do I do? Yes? No?”
Xavier stood and picked up his black jeans off the messy floor. He gave Billy a stern look. “No. Just crack the door open and tell him to get lost.”
* * * *
Billy opened the door a sliver, but stood in the doorway, blocking Xavier’s view of the guy.
August,was it?
“Hey, hi,” Billy said in a friendly tone.
Man, Billy was so terrible at being prompt or rude.
“We’re, uh, well, we’re…busy right now.”
