Chapter 19

“Looks like the snow slowed.” Colt looked out the window. The moon shone bright in the sky, which was a good sign the white-out was over. Hopefully, by the time he was ready to start out, the sun would rise shortly after.

Dean started to worry about the rough terrain and the kids out there alone. “Are you sure you don’t want me to go with you? Someone could come over to be here for Coop.”

Putting his hand up, Colt shook his head. “No, I’m good. I don’t want to have to worry about him or you if you’re on the trail with me. No offense, but I work alone. I don’t even want Hank and Lenny out there, but they are the first responders. I just don’t want anyone else lost or hurt. I want you both safe.”

There was such concern in Colt’s eyes, Dean felt his heart beat faster. It felt nice to be worried after. Colt seemed genuinely concerned for not only his nephew but Dean as well. It made Dean feel special, and he would make sure Coop was safe and one less thing for Colt to worry about.
