Chapter 47

“Yeah, that’s the mouth of Wind River Canyon. We used to camp out there in the summer. My grandfather used to take us on a four-day trip twice a summer to camp out and hike those trails. We would fish and hunt on our way back. It leads right to our neighbors’ land.”

“Let’s mark this on the map and go on foot from here.”

Rusty and Dean grabbed their shotguns, their backpacks with supplies, food, and water, and left everything else behind.

Who would have thought a bent branch and scuffed snow would have triggered anyone to think Randy came that way? Knowing the map and the way the horse went, it didn’t make sense, but that’s what seemed to have happened. Dean’s heart raced as he thought about his brother and what Randy went through. He also thought about Colt and his injuries and just wanted all this to be over.
