Chapter 50

When he came back, he hugged Dean hard, told Dean he loved him, and kissed the baby. Then he went out and waited in the truck.

A short time later, Colt went to Dean’s room and grabbed his bags and went to see Dean in the living room. Dean stood by the window, the baby in the bassinet by the couch.

“Thank you for everything,” Dean whispered to Colt.

Colt swallowed hard and cleared his throat. Dean could tell Colt didn’t want to go, but he couldn’t beg Colt to stay.

“Thank you for watching out for Coop and helping me after finding the boys,” Colt said awkwardly.

Dean didn’t utter any words.

“I guess this is goodbye then. You know you can come out anytime to grab your truck, or I can have it towed back.” Colt stuttered to a stop when he noticed tears streaming from Dean’s eyes. Colt swallowed hard, looking as though he wanted to touch Dean but decided against it. Colt looked as though it broke his own heart to leave.

“Goodbye,” Dean said and lifted the baby and left the room.
