Coop told Rusty what happened.

Rusty shook Colt’s hand and said, “You have yourself a fine man here, Colt.”

Dean could see the sheen of tears in Rusty’s eyes. He knew Rusty considered him and Randy his sons in many ways. He, like most fathers, wanted them to be happy.

“Yeah, I know I do.” Colt kissed Dean long and hard.Epilogue

Two years later

“Wow, that kid can sure ride.” Dean sounded like a proud papa and kissed Colt on the lips after coming in from the corral where Coop practiced his roping skills.

“He sure can. Kip and Mikey aren’t too bad themselves. Kip’s attitude changed a lot since being able to come out here after his last surgery and his prosthetic leg. His physical therapist said he’s been doing wonders. All these kids needed was someone to care. It’s a nice home away from home for them.”
