Chapter 25

Morgan sighed deeply. How different would this morning have been if Nate had never suggested they circle The Great Lake or if they had never stopped at the Agawa Gift Shop? Or was this all ordained by some master plan of which he was not the author?

Head bowed, he turned to walk back toward the house.

“Are you ready for this?” Megan, who was standing on the porch watching him, asked.

Another deep sigh escaped Morgan’s lips as he looked up at his sister and said, “Not really.”

“Don’t worry about Nate. I’m sure once we know the whole story and you tell him, he’ll understand why you were not yourself last night or this morning, and things’ll go back to normal between you two.”

It was not only Nate who didn’t know the whole story. Megan was missing some very important aspects of it as well. If she knew what all had transpired at the woodcarver’s shop, she would understand why Morgan felt that once they talked with their parents nothing would go back to normal.
