Chapter 74

Megan broke into his thoughts. “I have something for you.” She reached into her pocket, withdrew a folded envelope, and handed it to Morgan.

He unfolded it. On it his name was written in a hand that he recognized.

“Nate?” he whispered.

Megan nodded. “I called him and filled him in on what was going on. He sent this to me to give to you. You go on. I’ll go back and let you read it on your own.”

“You won’t get lost, will you?” Morgan asked.

“Ah, Brother White Wolf. You forget I, too, am Ojibwe. I am your sister, Sweet Otter. I could find my way back blindfolded—but let’s not test that theory.” She laughed, gave him a hug, and left.

Smiling, he watched her go. Then he sat down on a rock at the side of the path and looked at Nate’s letter. He opened it and read:

Hi, Morgan. Or should I call you White Wolf?

Morgan smiled again. Megan hadtruly filled Nate in.
