“Then I’ll explain some of these to him. If he thinks there’s something you can do, I’ll set up an appointment and you can come in and see him.”
“All right. I’d feel better with that.”
“If anything, maybe you can sell the fixture designs and make some money with them.”
Mickey took a deep breath. “That would be great!”
The apartment door opened. “Hello!”
“Chris?” Mickey said, looking up. “What time is it?”
We both looked around for a clock. We hadn’t realized so much time had passed.
Chris stuck her head in the bedroom door. “It’s almost midnight. Are you still looking at your designs?”
“Yes! Ashlee thinks some of these can make me some money!”
Chris’s eyes widened. “Really?”
“I work for a law office. I think one of the partners would be really interested in some of these.”
“Wow. And I always thought you were just painting walls.”

I rolled over when I heard someone whisper my name.
“Huh?” I mumbled, still half asleep. There was a hand on my chest.
