“Did you manage to secure a carriage and horses?” It was the best he could come up with.


Will took a long drink, flicked a glance up at him, then ran his thumb over his top lip. “Yes. If we decide to go to York we would be able to borrow the right equipage.”


“Good. Good.” Dearne took a drink and looked around.


Will ran his finger down the outside of his tankard and looked at the ale. “Have you remembered anything yet?”


“Just what do you remember? I know nothing about you at all.”


Dearne took another drink and wiped his mouth.“Well, I am the youngest child of the Earl of Holbrook. My father died some years back, and I have one older brother and one sister. My brother is now Holbrook. My siblings are all considerably older than me. My mother was the earl’s second wife.”


Will almost smiled as he looked up briefly. “How much older?”
