Chapter 10

“Can I talk to you?” I asked, hoping he’d agree.

He crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. I took that as assent.

“I apologize for my behavior on the train the other night. I took my insecurities and multiple failures at any kind of connection with another human being out on you, and you didn’t deserve that. Just because I can’t seem to make that work isn’t about you. But I meant what I’d said. I’m a bad betand I wouldn’t want you to waste your time.”

Lindsey frowned. “Don’t you think I should be the one to make that decision? And how do you even know Iwas even interested in going that far? Not that I wasn’t. I am. You didn’t give me a chance to make my case.”
