Chapter 129

Quinn thanked Beth, then went to talk to the two waiters. One had no clue what he was talking about. The other one said he vaguely remembered the guy Beth described as an Elvis look-alike, but that was it.

“I do recall Kev’s being excited though. He was almost bouncing, trying to find a ride up there.”

“Up there?”

“Yeah. Some town in the mountains. Umm…Hell if I remember which one.”

“Empire?” Quinn prompted.

“Maybe.” The young man shrugged.

“Thanks for your help. I’ll let you get back to work.”

Quinn returned to the office, and told Brent what he’d found out, while writing it down to put in the Taylor file. Brent immediately called Hardin to fill him in.

The detective wasn’t too happy that the officer who interviewed Beth hadn’t managed to get the information about the two men she had seen with Dawson. “Guess he didn’t know the right questions to ask,” Hardin said sourly.
