Quinn’s laughter joined his while he wrapped his arms around Brent. “Thank you for that,” he said when they both calmed down. “I needed it. Weneeded it.” He kissed Brent tenderly. “What would I do without you to keep me grounded?”
“Go off half-cocked and save the world, even if it doesn’t want saving.”
“Maybe?”
“Definitely.” Brent smiled then moved away. “How about we get something to eat? There’s still time before you ride arrives.”
“Not a good idea. Supposedly I’m here alone and only staying over to meet with River’s friends. Is anyone saw us together…”
“I bet the pizza place delivers.”
“Now that, I could go for.”
They ordered a large with everything. While they waited, Quinn decided to take a shower. “I feel grungy and dirty.”
“Same thing, last I heard,” Brent pointed out.
“Not this time. Grungy from trekking through rain and mud. Dirty because of how I had to pretend to agree with all the venom River was spouting, and do some of it myself.” He shuddered as he undressed.
