Chapter 147

“Other than that, it looks…well, not horrible,” Brent said with a forlorn smile.

Frank clapped his hand on Brent’s shoulder. “Consider yourselves lucky she didn’t wait until you were in bed and toss the firebombs through your bedroom windows.”

“Damned straight,” Quinn said. “What I still don’t get is how she jammed the door lock to try to trap us in the garage.”

“Best guess, she got in through the back window,” Frank replied.

“Jimmying it open wouldn’t be too hard, I suspect,” Quinn agreed. “And we didn’t have any security on the garage.” He shot Brent an ‘I told you’ look.

“Then she closed it again,” Frank said, “so you wouldn’t know she’d been here.”

“Makes sense,” Brent agreed.

“The house is secure,” Frank told them. “I went though and it doesn’t look like anyone’s been inside other than the firemen. I took the side door alarm off the security circuit, since it’s blown now. The rest works. Or will when you turn it on again.”
