Chapter 34

Sam laid a hand on my arm before I could move. “Hey, wait. Are you okay to drive?”

I snarled as I brushed away his hand. “I’m fine, Mom. See you around.” I turned to go and bumped into my not-so-secret admirer from before. I thought he’d taken the hint.

“So’s that a yes, pretty boy?” He ran a sweaty finger from my collarbone down to my belt. I suppose he thought that was seductive. Not.

“Sorry, son. That’s a ‘no.’ I’m sure someone else would be willing to help you out. ‘Scuse me.” I made to pass him, but he moved into my path.

“Come on, man. You can’t pass this up.” He proudly gestured to his unappetizing frame. “My ass is pretty damn tight. All the guys love it.”

I was sick of this. “Do they love crabs, too?” I snapped, and saw the anger flash in his eyes before his fist headed toward my face. Before it hit me, though, another hand stopped it cold. It was Sam, and I turned to see him frowning on my behalf. Since when did I become a frickin’ damsel in distress?
