Instead, Amir pulled out his phone and turned on the video recorder. “Ken, what day is it?”
Ken sighed. “Amir, what are you doing?”
“It’s November sixth, right?”
“Yes, it’s November sixth.”
“And I’m telling you there’s something not right about Declan’s and Jae’s relationship?”
Ken shrugged. “Yeah.”
“Well, here’s how confident I am. I am recording this and making a wager. If I’m not proven right by the start of the new year, I will pay Ken’s share of the rent for two months. But, if I’m right, Ken has to pay my rent for one month, take me to a fancy dinner, and apologize for being an asshole.”
“What? Why don’t I get a fancy dinner?”
“Because you’re wrong. I haven’t decided where I want to go yet, but I’ll let you know.”
“Oh my God, Amir, you are such a fucking drama queen sometimes.”
“Maybe so, but in this case I’m raising a fuss because I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” Amir pointed to his image in the phone. “You mark my words.”
