Chapter 16

“Sounds like you had a sucky day.”

He gave me a look that pretty much smoldered. “It’s ending well.”

“We should do something about dinner.”

“It’s your city. Make a suggestion.”

“That sounds like a loaded sentence.”

Sully grinned. “You can take it any way you like it.”

“There’s a decent Italian place about a mile and a half from here. Good food. Good beer,” I offered up.

“As long as we end up back here afterward.”

“I assumed that was part of the plan.”

We got up to go inside, and Sully put his arm across the door, blocking my way. He cupped his hand on my neck and leaned in for a slow, deep kiss. He murmured, “I wish I’d burned another vacation day for this.”
