Chapter 22

He shook his head as the rain changed to a downpour and he gave up any attempt to stay dry. Chad walked past the drugstore and considered stepping inside for shelter, but decided against it. He didn’t want to run into anyone he knew and explain why he was walking in the rain.

The night sucked and he had only himself to blame. Chad trekked home, a miserable mess, trying to sort out his feelings. He knew he’d made an ass of himself and owed Jeff an apology.

When he got home, he stripped in the living room and took the clothes to the laundry room before grabbing a clean towel to dry off. He walked through his kitchen and straight upstairs, ignoring his growling stomach and slipping into bed.

He grabbed his phone from his nightstand at least ten times to text Jeff, but never followed through. He sighed. Jeff had made it clear they weren’t dating. Chad should be glad. He shouldbe, but he wasn’t. He was dejected and moody.
