Chapter 27

There were only two bathrooms, both unisex, from what I could tell, both also occupato. Since I didn’t have to go that badly, I decided to just head back to the table. I decided to hover, actually, in order to eavesdrop on what I hoped was a romantic or even lustful moment. What I heard shocked me a little.

“He’s a flake, Major. I adore him, but he’s so frigging…I guess the polite word is fickle, though I want to think of something stronger.”

Surely Abby didn’t mean me.

“He said it himself. ‘Why look for the one when I can bang with the thousands?’ Mick is immature.”

Apparently, she did.

“You and I grew up. I don’t think he’s changed at all.”

Major came to my defense. “It’s mostly an act, I think. All for show. He’s funny.”
