Chapter 63

“Would you stop running?”

“No.” Though I wasn’t running, I didn’t slow down at all. “Maybe you should.”

“AJ kisses everyone,” Major said again. “You know that. Stop being a jerk.”

“And when he gets to you, you melt. I’ve seen the way you can’t let go of the feel of his lips on yours.”

“For a smart man, you can be awfully dense. You think you know everything.” Major kept up with my stride.

“No, but I know a lot.” I was relieved when grass turned to pavement.

“Think about all the times he’s kissed me.”

“I’d rather not.”

“How often was it right after he kissed you, ass? Your lips on his, then his on mine? Almost always.”

“Oh.”

“Oh.” He mocked me. “That’s why I’d touch my lips. I wanted yours there way more than his.”

I stopped then, but didn’t say a word.

Major did, “But it’s better if…” After a breath, he said that.

“Better…” I repeated just the one word.
