Chapter 56

“What’s the deal with the rocks?” asked Sully.

“Do you still have the map they handed to us when we walked in?” Josh asked.

“Yeah, let me look for it.” Sully opened up the backpack, and searched for the guide.

“I can tell you what the rocks were used for,” the stranger said.

Sully picked up on an accent but couldn’t place it. Unlike most of the men they’d met in Mexico, the stranger didn’t roll the ‘r’ when he spoke. “Hi!” said Sully, who stopped digging through his bag. Even though it was one hundred degrees out, the slender man wore a dark hoodie. The olive-skinned man had dark, thick eyebrows, a long thin but arched nose. “Part of the group?”

“No, but I know this place very well. I’m a traveler who’s interested in ancient things.”

“So you’re not from here?” asked Sully.
