“Miss Mahon and Miss Alvarez are a couple…married even, maybe.”
“Cool!”
“Your uncles…Dante and Glenn, are they still together?”
“Twenty-five years. Married for two. They were one of the first couples in line after the ruling.”
“Nice.”
“About that sand…Did you throw it on purpose?” Angel asked.
I shrugged. “It happened decades ago. I don’t remember.”
“Really? Your memory seems 20/20—or however one measures memory—on everything else.”
I offered a sheepish grin.
“The other gifts…Let’s see. First grade…the hands.”
“No bad memories there,” I said, “even though Miss Braff really didn’t care for my artistic license much.”
Angel chuckled. His memory was 20/20 as well, it seemed.

“Noah?”
“What?” I didn’t look up from coloring as she stood there right beside me.
