Kelly passed a hand over his face. “I think it will probably go off and lick its wounds for a bit. Last night was quite a kerfuffle.”
Alec asked, “How much damage did I do when I shot it? I’m sure I got it last night. I got three shots off and at least one of them hit it. Will that have affected it much?”
They thought about it. Kelly said, ruminatively, “Possibly. They seem to be extremely strong and to heal extraordinarily quickly. But enough bullets or physical damage would certainly slow it down. I saw one partly bludgeoned to death once, some of us Pulling at it to weaken it at the same time. I’m not sure it would work on its own, but in combination…However, whatever damage you did to it last night is probably healed by now. It’s still too dangerous to do a map search for it like we did before though—it’s aware of us now.”
“So, we just wait for it to kill again?” Alec was unhappy.
“I think that’s all we can do.” Kelly bit his lip. “We need to regroup, as well.”
