Chapter 31

I flushed, then took a few deep breaths and stood. I splashed water on my face and rinsed out my mouth and gargled with fresh cool water, then re-brushed my teeth before heading back to bed.

The upside of throwing up—especially when it was due to nerves—was that one felt better afterward. I closed my eyes, and with my stomach no longer aggravating me, finally slept.

9: Closets Are for Clothes

Muted voices sifted through my sleep-clouded head, and I blinked a few times as my eyes adjusted to the bright light filtering through the curtains. After multiple washings, and without any blinds behind them, they weren’t particularly good at blocking the morning sun.
