Chapter 46

Whatever else my irrational mind tried to make me worry about, them liking Wes as an individual was not one of them. He was kind and personable. Qualities my mom would love. So would my dad, for that matter.

From this distance, and as bright as it was outside, I probably wouldn’t have been able to see anyone even two feet back from it anyway.

I rolled my shoulders, psyched myself up, and put one foot in front of the other until I stood outside the door. There was a decent chance they’d seen me approach, so I didn’t want to stand out here fidgeting and worrying. I put the key in the door and opened it.
