Chapter 103

The door to Paddington Investments was unlocked, so I walked in. The space was large enough to have a greeting area, two offices on each side of the hallway, and the biggest office in the back, facing east, which was probably Seb’s. You could probably see Stone Mountain on a clear day. Maybe.

I set my briefcase on a table in one of the empty offices and walked down the hall. “Seb? Are you here?”

His neatly styled head popped up around the corner of the big office and the wide smile on his face was gratifying. “You came!” He dropped the books in his hands and came forward to enfold me in a warm hug. He smelled so good. “Thank you,” he said, then stepped back. I loved the black pinstripe suit, white shirt, and light purple tie with matching handkerchief he wore. Seb was still too thin, but he looked healthier. Good.

“You’re wearing a suit. Excellent,” he said. “I didn’t mention the dress code, but I thought you knew me well enough to figure out what I wanted.”
