The place was just dying down from the Sunday rush. He looked at the clock, realizing they would be closing soon. Trevor walked to the kitchen, talked briefly with Dana, and took the ingredients he needed for Sam’s dessert.


Christian cracked a smile. “I called the hospital to check on Sam, but they said he was discharged. I didn’t want to call him after our last conversation, but I’m worried about him. Have you seen him?” Christian looked gutted.


“Yeah, he’s upstairs. They said they wouldn’t discharge him if he was going home alone, and since his family is still away, I told him to stay with me for a few days.”


“Is he okay? I mean should he be out of the hospital, has he…” Christian took a deep breath, “Has he said anything to you about me?” Christian looked so lost.
