Harrison nodded. “I saw it earlier.”

Jane yelped and smacked him on his upper arm. “Why didn’t you say something?”

He shrugged, leaned forward, and rested his elbows on the table. Looking right at me, he asked, “You happy, Jude?”

I met his gaze. “Yes,” I said with all the certainty I felt.

He leaned back again. “That’s all I need to know.” He flung his arm around Jane’s neck, pulled her close, and smacked a loud kiss on her temple. “Now someone better gimme mah cheesecake or I will be forced to hurt someone.”

A relieved laughter escaped and I hid my face in the crook of Vee’s neck. He put his arm around me and I inhaled his familiar scent. He smelled of bergamot, happiness, and love.

Most of all love.
